At times, we can be our own worst enemies.

Despite the desire to have/do something consciously, our subconscious has other ideas.

It seems no matter how hard we try to attain or achieve what we want, we struggle to get there.

In short, our subconscious and conscious mind are in conflict with one another.

And because our subconscious mind is outside of our awareness, it can be difficult to identify when we are self sabotaging.

However, the fact that you are not achieving what you want to is a big clue ;)

          The first step is

           awareness

of the choices you are making that are preventing you from getting what you want.

  Embracing the Opportunity to Blossom

Sometimes in order to break through and blossom in the way that is right for us, we need extra support.

Part of the challenge in being yourself may be because others don't like change and would rather you remain as they want you to be -

otherwise they may have to change something about themselves as a consequence of your growth.

However, living our lives by other peoples standards/ways of being can result in us feeling what we want out of life is of less value. Feeling our needs are less important can affect our self esteem and self worth and we may even feel selfish when we do manage to do something we want to do for ourselves. That sense of selfishness can even become so embodied that we start to sabotage out own happiness before someone else can.

Talking about our mental distress is one way in which we can improve our well-being. Talking to a professional counsellor can afford the time, space and support necessary to facilitate change.

These changes can result in living more in line with your truth and less in line with the version that others want you to be. Life is for living and you don't have to mould yourself to live a life to suit others while making yourself miserable.

If you would like support to break through and blossom into who you are, why not explore counselling? You may find over time, you may find you develop the confidence and courage you need to facilitate change.

Counselling offers support, care, attention and respect. A counsellor wont force you in any particular direction as in the person centred approach, you are the expert and your counsellor will go at your pace without an agenda. You don't have to share anything you don't feel comfortable to talk about.

The therapeutic relationship offered in counselling is non-judgemental and is unlike any other relationship you are likely to have because a therapists intention is to be there for you, to support your personal growth without telling you what to do or reverting to talking about themselves.

What would it feel like for you to embrace the freedom of your life and live it how you want to moving forward?

      Warmest, Maria

Did you know its Time To Talk Day on 1st February?

"It’s easy to think there’s no right place to talk about mental health. But the more we talk about it, the better life is for all of us.

Too many people with mental health problems are made to feel isolated, worthless and ashamed. Time to Talk Day is a chance for all of us   to be more open about mental health – to talk, to listen, to change lives.

Wherever you are – at home, at work or up the top of a mountain! – have your conversation about mental health this Time to Talk Day"

1 in 4 people will experience mental health problems in their lifetimes....so why are we still struggling to talk about our problems?

Some may view it as a weakness to seek help and support. I don't know about you but if I wanted to run a marathon for example, I would need some sort of training support to enable me to get through the challenge of it - does that mean I am weak for making use of the right support?

Consider what it's like, knowing you are struggling with something and not getting the right support to assist you. Week after week does this make the situation feel easier or harder for you?

Now consider what its like facing the same challenge in the knowledge that you have the right support in place. Support from a professional who will listen to what you have to say, be non-judgemental, respect you, value you, be with you every step of the way. Week after week, how do you think this type of support would make you feel?

If it feels hard to consider opening up and sharing your troubles with a counsellor, is it really any easier having to go through whatever it is alone? Why not explore counselling to see what its like for you. What have you got to lose?

10 Reasons You Should Love Blogging

Blog posts are a great way to get recognized within your community and share your voice. Here are the top 10 reasons you should love writing blog posts.

    Anyone can make one:

For better or worse, anyone can write a blog post about anything they want. Everyone has a voice and the best voices will rise to the top.

The writer can show their personality:

In blog posts, the writer has more leeway to add in their voice and personality than other types of writing.

Blogs are a great form of mass communication:

You can help people, learn new things, entertain your audience—the possibilities are endless and amazing. Blogging opens up all of these to a very wide audience.

You can make money:

Get the right blog going and you can make a lot of money through advertising and sponsored posts.

It allows people to craft better thoughts:

Instead of reading haphazard, uneducated Facebook statuses, it’s much better to see people’s thought process in a well-written blog post.

    You can establish a community:

Blogging allows you to connect with other individuals who share the same interests. Sharing ideas and opinions within your community helps establish yourself as a thought leader.

    Good for SEO:

Keeping content on your site fresh and relevant, you can use your blog to boost the search engine ranking (SEO) of your site and your business.

It brings people back to your site:

If your blog is strong enough and updated regularly, people will come back looking for more and bring traffic back to your site as well.

    It’s free:

It costs you a grand total of zero dollars to post to the blog, so if you have something to say, there’s nothing to stop you.

You can establish yourself as a thought leader:

A blog is a great place for your original thoughts, and it can be a wonderful way to show off your individuality. If people like your ideas, you can become a thought leader in your industry!

What else do you love about blogs? Let me know!
